The Sweden tourist visa is applied for and issued to those who intend to go to the country for tourism and leisure. People with the intention to attend business meetings and conferences are also issued this visa. Applicants are expected to get a Schengen visa. This is a short-stay visa that allows a stay of up to 90 days during a period of 180 days from the application date.  You must apply for the visa of the country that is your primary destination during your stay i.e. Sweden. Applicants are expected to have a valid passport that must have been issued in not more than ten years from the application period. It should also be valid for at least 3 months from the application date. One or more passport photos are also required along with the application form. The photos must have been taken within 6 months to the application period. The visa can be issued for single entry or multiple entries. Travelers are allowed to travel to other Schengen countries while their visa is valid. For persons under the age of 18 who intend to travel alone, written consent from the applicant's parents or guardians should be provided. It must be certified by a public notary.  If you intend to travel with only one parent, the written consent of the other parent or guardian is required. Tourist visas for children between 6 to 12 years of age cost EUR 35. Children below that age do not need a visa to travel.        Applicants are expected to have their valid individual medical travel insurance for use in Sweden.  A letter stating the purpose of the applicant's trip to Sweden should be provided. Applicants are also expected to include details such as date of entry, date of exit and travel itinerary. Applicants going to Sweden for the purpose of business should have an invitation letter from the individual host or host company in Sweden. Applicants must provide proof of sufficient financial means to support themselves financially during their stay in Sweden and for their return transportation.  For tourists, this can be in form of their letter of employment, salary slips for at least 6 months, recent bank statements or pension slips (For retired applicants). For businessmen or businesswomen, this can be in the form of their certificate of registration, tax forms, recent company bank statement or recent personal bank statement.

The Student Visa is issued to foreigners who have been offered admission to study in an academic institution in Sweden. The original letter of admission from the institution that the applicant has been accepted should be presented during the visa application. You are required to be in possession of the receipt of the tuition fee paid to the institution in Sweden. An original guarantee letter explaining the details of the applicant’s financial situation is required. Minors applying for this visa should ensure they are in possession of the original and two extra copies of their birth certificate. You are required to present two copies of your curriculum vitae during the visa application. Applicants of this visa are required to present original certificates they obtain from the schools they attended previously. If you will be accompanied by your family member you can apply on their behalf in your own application. Proof of payment of the visa fee is required. The documents to be submitted should be in English or Swedish.

This visa is issued to foreign nationals who have been offered employment by an employer in Sweden. The employment contract signed by both the employer and employee should be provided. The letter must state the job position offered to the applicant and the duration of employment. A copy of your work permit is required. Proof that there was no Swedish national qualified to take up the job that you were offered is required. A copy of your curriculum vitae should be provided. Proof of the incentive of returning to your home country at the expiry of your visa is required. If you will be accompanied to Sweden by your family member, you can apply for the visa on their behalf.
