The Iceland tourist visa is also a Schengen 'Type C' visa and it  is valid for 90 days. If someone is responsible for providing you with the funds, you will need a letter from the entity or person. Iceland has a low crime rate with rare instances of violent crime. The Iceland student visa enables Indians to visit Iceland to study in one of the institutions in the country. You must ensure you have been accepted into one of the institutions of your choice in the country before applying for visa. Students will need to apply for a residence permit before arriving in Iceland which can be done by contacting the Directorate of Immigration in Iceland or by notifying the nearest Icelandic embassy. All students are required to apply for a Kennitala – an Icelandic ID/social security number - which is used for every day matters, such as opening a bank account. Letter of acceptance from the institution in Iceland is required. This is proof that you can attend lectures and write exams at school.  If you are given a scholarship, you must provide the letter of sponsorship from the body that awarded the scholarship to you. Students are required to provide medical insurance details.  Proof of financial support in the form of bank statements must be provided.  Student visas in Iceland are flexible enough to allow students to apply for a work permit while they are engaged in their studies. Students are allowed to work 20 working hours per week.
